Advanced Copy Reader (ARC)

Have you considered becoming an advanced copy reader (ARC)?
An ARC agrees to read a book they receive for free and then post a review if they choose to. Sometimes the books are made available directly by the author or publisher, but there are also companies that specialize in lining up ARCs for authors so they can get their book reviewed. The usual assignment for an ARC is to read the book and then post a review to a website. The review should be honest; no money should be received for it.
As a fiction editor, I like to see what books are coming through the pipeline, and it pushes me to stretch my reading into genres I don’t usually seek out. I’ve crossed paths with a few books I probably wouldn’t have discovered if it hadn’t been for reading done as an ARC. It’s also a way to support the community of writers, readers, and literature lovers as a whole. If you enjoy reading and writing reviews, and especially if you are on the hunt for new books, ARC reading might be a good fit for you.
